Welcome to 6th Grade E.L.A.
Reading Goals
Reading goals are the number of pages students should be reading from Friday to Friday.
These goals are set individually for all students. Not every child reads at the same speed, so the goals will be different for everyone. I will be checking in with students about their reading goals each Friday during class. If there is no school on a Friday, I will check on goals the following Monday.
Each class period will begin with some time for silent reading. This is an excellent opportunity to work towards reading goals, however some days class reading time is limited.
The best way to help your child with this weekly assignment is to check their bookmark.
There will be a grade each week on powerschool for this assignment. The assignment will be named "status".
NWEA testing
Students will be taking the NWEA reading and language test in ELA during at some point in October.
This data will help in understanding student's strengths as well as weakness in ELA.
